Camp GEOG is an innovative GIS summer camp held at the University at Albany. The camp is held over the course of one week, and is designed to introduce middle school girls to the exciting careers available in the field of geography. Camp instructors, UAlbany graduate students in the Department of Geography and Planning, lead the students through a challenging and engaging array of activities on the University at Albany campus. Teams learn how to:
-
Orienteer with handheld compasses
Solve problems with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Discover locations using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Units
Create topographic maps
